Question: What exactly is a Gel Fireplace?
Answer: Gel Fireplace - Portable, Chimney Free, No Installation, No hook ups, No Electricity, No Gas. Gel Fireplaces are for decorative purposes not to be confused with a heat source. Though the gel will give off heat 3,000 BTU/h per can, just enough to take the chill out of the room. You can move it from room or home to home.
Question: How do Gel Fireplaces compare to other fireplace options concerning cost?
Answer: Competes with electric nicely.
Question: When you say, “Competes with electric nicely”, do you mean the initial cost or the cost to run the unit?
Answer: Both!
Question: Are Ventless Gel Fireplaces safe to use?
Answer: Tested for safety over the past 20 years. Builders, Architects and developers in large condo complexes and apartments buy the product due to its affordability and safety. Safer than a Candle burning!
Question: What about maintenance? Are Gel Fireplaces difficult to maintain?
Answer: No maintenance
Question: Are 2Burn Gel Fireplaces easy to use?
Answer: Very easy! Just pop the lid of the Sunjel with a screwdriver, light with a long stick match or lighter and you have a fire!
Question: Does the Sunjel have an odor when it’s burning? What does it smell like?
Answer: The ATF had to approve our formula. The first was totally odorless and they denied approval. Now, this is only for made in the USA products. If a product is brought in from anywhere there are no rules, anyone can put any stuff in a can. We do everything 100% correct from formula, to approvals to labeling to packaging.
Question: I didn’t know the ATF had a “heat smell” requirement. What did you do?
Answer: The ATF had to approve our formula. We changed the formula to have the lowest amount of "heat smell" allowed by law.
Question: What is Sunjel made out of?
Answer: Isopropyl Alcohol, an Organic Thickener, Water and Sea Salt

Answer: Organically Grown with no un-needed chemicals question:
Question: What is the life expectancy of a Ventless Gel Fireplace?
Answer: Forever, if taken care of and used properly.
Question: Are 2Burn Inc. Gel Fireplaces made from solid wood or veneer?
Answer: Solid Pine or Oak with a Pine or Oak Veneer. All woods have a veneer or the finishing stain would not look as fabulous and even.
Question: Are 2Burn Inc. Gel Fireplaces “handmade”?
Answer: No they are not hand-made. They are made with high tech equipment so each batch is consistent.
Question: What are the benefits of owning a Gel Fireplace?
Answer: Read about “what is a Gel Fireplace” at the top. Plus Apartments, Condos, Mobile Homes, Doctor Offices, Executives and Single family homes or bedrooms can have a fireplace with no chimney. Also REAL FIRE! No hologram like Electric and no expensive installation fees like gas and no mess like natural!
Question: What are the drawbacks to Gel Fireplaces?
Answer: No remote control like gas, and no smell of wood like Natural...(that is why we sell the 7 scent samplers and wood scented candles) Electric fireplaces are just plain unattractive. They have more downfalls than our beautiful Brilliant 7” yellow crackling flame.
Question: Can your Firebox Inserts be used in an existing gas or wood burning fireplace?
Answer: Our Log and Grate Sets are for existing fireplace conversions.
Question: What gauge metal is used in the Firebox? Is it steel?
Answer: Cold Rolled Steel, and certain parts are 18 gauge and certain parts are 20 gauge.
Question: What does Sunjel’s “improved formula” mean? Improved how? Is it somehow superior to other gel fuels?
Answer: Over 20 years ago, the batches were inconsistent, and made with substandard materials, and with very little technology. Though Sunjel was still safe and burned clean, we improved it to be the best. Little smell, best flame, No soot, No Ash, and the best laboratory results in the industry... Now, a computer blends our formula and we have sourced pure Isopropyl Alcohol and wonderful organic thickening agents.
Question: Are there any “tricks” to burning Sunjel or using Ventless Gel Fireplaces?
Answer: Sunjel - All Cans should be shook, and the Label torn off prior to burn. Store in a cool place. The cooler the gel is when lit the better performance. Should use within a year of purchase date for best performance. All Fireplaces require assembly, About 45 minutes. Sunjel burns 2-3 hours per can.
Question: So, does this mean that some of the knock-off gels available on the net could be...ummm...less than safe?
Answer: Yes, and they are, Not totally unsafe or they wouldnt be allowed to sell it, but no where near as good as ours....we have paid a great deal of money to test competitors gel against ours, it is a wonderful difference! I am actually as we speak burning my one main competitors gel...it stinks and I just had a batch tested at the beginning of the winter season this year, it is some nasty stuff.
Question: How large is the 2Burn Inc. factory/manufacturing site?
Answer: 2 Burn, Inc Third party sources manufacturing to numerous steel fabrication companies, millwork shops and chemical facilities all totaling in over 300,000sqft of production site. We let the pros do the work so that everything is consistent. We do all packaging in house though in our 10,000 sqft facility. Our Import Collection is warehoused at our import partners facility in Texas.
Question: Is it possible to buy a “raw wood” fireplace and finish it myself?
Answer: No.
Question: I’ve read that someone used their Gel Fireplace to keep their bedroom warm during a power outage. Is that possible?
Answer: OH, it is very possible. We cannot advertise as a ventless heat source because it confuses the public because ventless gas fireplaces are illegal in ¾ of the United States, so we have to say...not a heat source, but can take the chill out of the room! It is decorative only.
Question: So, are 2Burn Ventless Gel Fireplaces the only LEGAL ventless fireplace options available?
Answer: Electric Fireplaces are ventless and legal
Question: We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and your wonderful answers to our question. Other product manufacturers we’ve spoken to have been less than forthcoming with their responses, and really gave us the feeling that they didn’t have time for us. It really turned us off to their products.
Answer: These are companies that clearly don’t care about their products or quite frankly believe in them the way I believe in this line. It really is sooo cool. To see a dancing flame in a fireplace in the middle of a room with no ugly or obtrusive chimney is awesome. We have a fireplace in every single office here, we have them in the warehouse to help with warmth for the staff..... I have one in my Living room, all 3 bedrooms, my Hot tub room, my Bar Rec-room, and...ready....my BATHROOM next to the tub! Every family member has with all the employees has one, it is so neat to be able to make someone happy with something unique. There is almost no one that couldn’t find a spot for one. We sell them to Dentists offices...Bed and Breakfasts, TONS of Restaurants, for their lobbies and waiting areas...it is ENDLESS!
